PARTNERSHIPS + ALLIES

Church Partnerships

Area churches can partner with Step uP Chattanooga and host Faith & Finances classes on their campus.

One Step up Chattanooga Partner, Hickory Valley Christian Church, has provided great assistance:

  • They host Step uP Board Meetings

  • They are the meeting place for most of our classes

  • The church has provided transportation, childcare, allies, and food

Step uP Board member, Don Hopkins, an elder at Hickory Valley, has advertised our Ally training, inviting the whole church. This resulting in a dynamic group representation - the Youth Pastor, two missionaries, Allies for our class, and community partnerships

A huge thank you also to Silverdale St. Elmo and Brainerd Baptist Church for opening their doors and partnering with us. Silverdale St. Elmo had one Faith & Finances class and one Ally Training class. Brainerd Baptist had several of both classes.

The well-known Celebrate Recovery program at Brainerd Baptist Church intersected with Step uP classes when our Director made a presentation resulting in several becoming participants.

On May 2 of 2023, Step uP Chattanooga began teaching a 12-session Faith & Finances class at the Day Reporting Center/Rehabilitative Services for the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Step uP facilitators shared their faith teaching practical biblical principles with finances. The TDOC is a one-stop center that provides services and resources to any offender under the supervision of its Community Supervision. Services are available to offenders released from a TDOC prison within their first year.

alternatives to incarceration by placing eligible participants in structured and intensive outpatient programs.  The programs provide resources and services to offenders to assist them as they work towards becoming productive citizens in their communities.)

Rapha has been a continual partnership for many years as we introduced Work Life to their already established ministry. Our board got their feet wet so to speak in learning about Faith & Finances while serving as Allies to both classes, and it’s where we established an Attire for Hire Boutique.

We are blessed by Raphas' mutual outreach to the many individuals looking for a handout, but even moreso in finding something that will impact generations in the long run. They turn lives in the right direction and are centered on a relationship with Christ. Rapha invites neighbors in need into healing relationships with a loving church family.

Community Partnerships

Transformation Project, Director Stan Bembry, has been a great advocate, a participant, and an Ally.

Stan has attended several Step uP Chattanooga board meetings, as well as opened the door for us at the TDOC Day Reporting Center.

The Transformation Project's mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by transforming the lives of addiction-related offenders, their families, and future generations through the power of God, thereby reducing repeat offenses and crime.

The TDOC Day Reporting Center or TDRC is a one-year three-phase program that will assist offenders with a moderate to high substance use need.

In order to be eligible for the program, the participant must be under the supervision of TDOC's Community Supervision, and have at least 18 months left on probation or parole supervision.

Silverdale Detention Center partnered with Step uP Chattanooga (pre-Covid) for two years to establish Work Life classes while providing Allies from the outside an opportunity to enter into a relationship with selected women in the Reentry program.

Step uP also sponsored an onsite gospel-presented Christmas event, bringing in a speaker, worship, communion, donated food from local restaurants, and gifts with over 20 individuals representing eight different churches in our community. Many came to the Lord/rededicated their lives to Christ.
